Clarifiers are positively charged liquids that attract loose suspended particles like dead algae,
bacteria, dead skin, and other particles with a negative charge. By making these particles larger,
they become much easier to trap by the filtration system.
Clarifier will only work if your pool's water chemistry is balanced. If your water is super-saturated
(i.e. high pH/alkalinity/calcium hardness) it will reject calcium and no clarifier will work to remedy this.
To prevent this condition, balance the water accordingly in this order:
- Alkalinity 80-120 ppm
- pH 7.2-7.6
- Calcium 200-400 ppm
Once the water is balanced, add the recommended
dosage of water clarifier to the pool. For sand filters,
add 3 cups of either Diatomaceous Earth or
Purifiber directly to the skimmer. This will greatly
enhance the filter's ability to trap smaller particles.
For cartridge and D.E. filters, this step should not
be necessary.
