As a pool owner, you take pride in seeing your pool clean and as inviting as possible. Having a clean pool makes everyone feel comfortable sticking their feet into it and clearing the pool from any debris and dirt will make the pool overall healthier. A pool cover can prevent any of these pesky materials from taking over your pool.
A pool cover prevents common types of debris such as leaves and branches from getting into your pool. Less dirt and debris mixing with your pool water means less trouble for you! While having your pool covered, however, the debris can build on top of the cover and make the pool look less inviting and can eventually be pushed down into your pool if a large amount of weight is added. One downside of a pool cover is that it can block the sun from naturally heating your pool. You don’t want to create a bigger mess when removing the debris from the cover so here are some tips and tricks to help prevent leaves and other debris from accidentally entering your pool’s water.
Reaching the middle of your pool is always a hard task, starting out with a long broom will help you collect any debris from the center and bring it to the edge of the pool cover. You can use your hands or a skimmer to scoop out any leaves. It is possible for branches or other sharp objects to drop into your pool so proceed with caution and use gloves or other safety precautions.
After you have removed any large pieces of debris you can carefully begin to pull the cover off of the pool; try not to let any leftover dirt fall into the water during the removal process. Having an extra hand or two to help remove the cover will also prevent anything from falling off your cover and into the pool. Place your cover on a lawn, patio, or driveway, and make sure to spread it out completely. Spray down the cover until it is completely clean. Before you place the cover back on the pool make sure to collect anything that may have fallen in with a skimmer.
Maintenance on a pool comes in many shapes and sizes. Chemicals are just as important as keeping your cover clear in order to have a crystal clear and refreshing pool to jump into.
