Do I need an above ground or inground safety cover?

Whether you need an inground or above ground safety cover depends on your pool structure and surrounding decking. Inground safety covers require at least two to three feet of solid deck space to anchor, whereas above ground pools typically use standard winter covers unless you have a full, flush wooden deck around the pool.

What anchors, springs, and othey hardware do pool safety covers use?

Safety covers require anchors in order to securely attach to your deck. The exact type of pool anchor that you will need to use depends on your decking material.

Should I choose a mesh safety cover or a solid safety cover?

Mesh safety covers keep large debris and leaves out of your pool, while still allowing rain and melted snow through. It prevents the need to pump water off the cover throughout the winter, however may require more cleaning when you open the pool in the spring.

Solid safety covers help to keep silt and fine debris out of the water, while preventing algae growth by blocking sunlight from reaching your pool over the winter. However, you will need to pump water off the cover throughout the winter to prevent straining and tears.

There is also an option to purchase a solid safety cover with mesh drain panels, which blocks sunlight and fine dirt like a solid safety cover, while still allowing water to pass through. On the other hand, some fine silt may wash through with the water, so you may still need to have a more thorough cleanup in the spring.
